I am a carpenter and I have to say this is by far the nicest oak floor I have ever layed by a long way!! I love the rustic look with the pin holes and the imperfections ( formed from woodworm as a tree, but killed in the making process) Having the flooring untreated means I treated it myself with 3 coats of ronsil clear Matt floor varnish. Now if I was to ever scratch, dent, scuff the flooring, Or after a few years of wear, i could lightly sand the floor and revarnish it myself with the same varnish, bringing it up like new again. A pre finished floor with any surface damage would probably need a professional to repair the damage.This is also stronger than engineered floor, as water could fall into the joints and blow the ply base (I'm not saying this is indestructible, but as a solid oak with no ply base and and the fact it has 3 layers of varnish over the whole floor, sealing any joints, I would say it should be more durable to water than engineered flooring). At £35 per m2 for solid oak floor it's a great price and being a parquet flooring, there should be less waist over tongue and groove as you have a left and a right board. BUT! if you are not fitting it yourself, what you save on cost, you will pay in labour as I would predict this takes 4-5x longer than plank flooring, then it needs 3 coats on the floor as soon as possible to protect it!! Wish I could attach photos with this, because I just love it! As I said, by far the best and strongest oak flooring I have ever layed! Enjoy people xxx" — Shane B. (5/5)
